Cindy Talley, PLA

Landscape Architect

During her eight-year career, Cindy Talley has contributed to many complex interdisciplinary projects, including landscape over structure. Her work ranges in scale from campus planning to residential gardens, with significant experience designing in the public right of way in the city of Seattle. Crafting a quality public realm, gathering and designing from robust public input, and a regenerative design ethos are important to Cindy.

She enjoys giving simple graceful form to program and creating rootedness in place, drawing from critical regionalist theory. As a registered landscape architect, Cindy provides CAD and graphics support on Osborn Consulting projects. Planting design is her strength, where Cindy integrates spatial design, ecology, color, and texture to create a cohesive place. She views the health of the planet as a primary foundation, informing all her work.

Just out of grad school, Cindy participated in an urban design fellowship with San Francisco Beautiful, led by former SPUR director Jim Chappell, where she developed a set of temporary design and program concepts for the mid-market portion of Market Street in San Francisco. Ultimately, as a result of her fellowship, Cindy was invited by San Francisco Mayor, Ed Lee, to serve on the Civic Design Advisory Committee, where she supported efforts contributing to a recognizable and cohesive street, while also differentiating the neighborhoods along its length. The continued provision of bike infrastructure along the street was another area of support while on this committee. This urban design and streetscape experience has informed Cindy’s design work, particularly in the design of stretches of public rights of way in Seattle.
